New bigboys in football..., the Indian Super league

The attention of football is shifting to one of the most unlikely places and in great speed, where could that be?..,Indian, yes India.

The Indians have come up with a football league and named it the Indian Super league.

This years Indian Super League season is the second season of the Indian Super League, since the league was founded in 2013. The season features eight teams. The regular season kicked-off on 3 October and will end on 6 December, with the finals beginning on 11 December and concluding with the final on 20 December.

Teams in the Indian Super league include;
Atlético de Kolkata

Chennaiyin

Delhi Dynamos

Goa

Kerala Blasters

Mumbai City

NorthEast United

Pune City

Just like Qatar, China and USA, the Indian super league teams have applied the concept of signing "Marque" players; usually big names in football.

Although, these marque signings are players who have reached the eve of their careers, and people mostly see this as a retirement package for players, the effects of bringing these albeit stars into the league help boost the popularity of the teams, the league and also the country in the footballing world.

This system has so far worked in the United states and is working in Qatar; where teams in these countries now bid for players alongside the big guns in the epl, la liga and bundesliga.

Chicarito was coveted by the MLS but he opted to stay and play his football in Europe. If the move was succesfull, it would have been an MLS record payment of about $10m

 It is only a matter of time till the attention of football moves to these regions and players would no longer have the easy choice playing in Europe or going elsewhere.

Among the foreign talents secured by the Indian Super League include; Helder Postinger, former Manchester city brazilian international Elano, free kick specialist and former real madrid and Brazil star Roberto Carlos, fellow brazillain world cup winner Lucio,Nicholas Anelka, Adrian Mutu.
