Nigerian Emmanuel Emenike scored on Saturday as Fenerbahçe beat FC Romanian club, Voluntari 3-1 in the Turkish club’s first match of pre-season.
Emenike struck in the 13th minute to open the scoring as the Yellow Canaries shaped up for the 2016/17 season.
He perfectly timed his run and deftly lifted Aatif Chahechouhe’s cross past the FC Voluntari’s goal keeper to give his side the lead.
Emenike spent the entire 2015/16 season on loan, first at United Arab Emirates club, Al Ain before proceeding to Premier League club, West Ham United in the second half of the season.
The forward endured a horrific 2014/15 season with Fenerbahçe, infamously falling out with some of the club’s supporters in March 2015 during a league game against Besiktas.
It is still not clear if Emenike will play competitively for Fenerbahçe this season.
Emenike has scored 17 goals for the Turkish club since he joined them from Russian side, Spartak Moscow in 2013.
