According
to the Chronicle, La Liga giants Real Madrid have entered the race to sign
Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United, in the last 24 hours.
If
reports that Zinedine Zidane’s side are interested in Sissoko are true – which
they are supposed to be – it could mean that both Juventus and Everton will
miss out on his signature, after initially showing interest in the Midfielder.
However,
Paul Pogba’s transfer to either Manchester United or Real Madrid, has a big part
to play in the deal. If Pogba was to leave the Bianconeri, Juventus would need
a replacement and are expected to swoop in for Sissoko. However, if Pogba was
to stay at Juventus or join Manchester United, Real Madrid would then have to
settle for the Newcastle midfielder.
The
asking price for Sissoko is apparently around £35million and with that being
said, Everton and Juventus, may struggle to compete, financially. As for Real
Madrid, their financial muscle means they won’t have a problem meeting the fee
or Sissoko’s wage demands either.
Newcastle
had told Sissoko he was expected back on Tyneside on 1st August, after his
extended holiday. However, many club officials don’t expect to see him back in
a Newcastle shirt again as the players representatives have been given the
green light to push on and find a club willing to pay the Magpie’s asking
price.
In
addition, Sissoko has gone public on several occasions to state his desire to
leave and with Wijnaldum’s exit to Liverpool being confirmed this week, it is
anticipated that Sissoko will follow him out of the door soon.
