KELECHI NWAKALI hopes he will not have to wait too long for
his Arsenal debut once he is granted a work permit.
The Gunners signed the Nigerian midfielder earlier this month
from Diamond Football Academy for a fee in the region of £3m.
He is currently unable to play for his new club due to work
permit issues and Arsenal said they planned to loan him out when announcing
Nwakali's signing.
However, the 18-year-old has hinted Arsenal have applied for
a permit and is hopeful he will soon get a run-out.
"Am yet to start playing because my work permit
application has not been granted, I can only train for now but hopefully soon
it will be sorted out," he told Own Goal Nigeria.
Nwakali's move to Arsenal was a drawn out affair with the
North London club having first been linked with the teenager in January but it
was not until he turned 18 in June that they stepped up their pursuit.
The midfielder came to prominence after captaining Nigeria to
glory at last summer's Under-17 World Cup.
