Arsenal are set to make an official bid for Valencia’s Shkodran
Mustafi within the next 24 hours, according to Emanuele Giulianelli.
The Gunners have been hit with a host of defensive set-backs
in recent weeks, with Gabriel having joined skipper Per Mertesacker on the
sidelines through injury, while Laurent Koscielny’s late return from EURO 2016
means he’s unlikely to be match fit for the opening few weeks of the campaign.
As a result, Arsene Wenger looks likely to be relying on new
addition Rob Holding for his team’s Premier League opener against Liverpool on
Sunday, and Giulianelli, a well known Italian transfer insider, has revealed
that a move for Mustafi is set to be made tomorrow (Tuesday) to address
concerns.
He tweeted: “As expected Arsenal are going to be submitting a
bid for Mustafi tomorrow.
“Arsenal have decided to put priority on getting a CB in
before the Liverpool opening game.”
Mustafi, who starred, and scored, for Germany at EURO 2016,
has emerged as a target for the Gunners in recent weeks, with speculation
having already suggested that an opening offer of around £15m has been knocked
back by Valencia.
