Liverpool Italian Flop Offered Life Line At Ajax

According to Sky Italia, newly-appointed Ajax manager Peter Bosz is willing to put his neck on the line and give Balotelli yet another chance to knuckle down and fulfil his potential, after Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp told the Italian forward to find a new club.

Balotelli arrived at Anfield in 2014 from AC Milan in a £16m-deal, but has scored just four goals for the Reds during his time with the club and was consequently loaned back to Milan last term, where he netted only three times occasions in 23 appearances over the course of the season.

Addressing the issue of what to do with Balotelli last month, Klopp was brutally honest and stated that:

“He’s [Balotelli] not at the stage of his career where he should be battling with four or five players for one or two positions”

“So it’s clear we need a solution. There will be a club who would be happy to have the new Mario Balotelli”

Bearing in mind that Liverpool have made their desire to offload the underwhelming 25-year-old attacker before the summer transfer window closes, the Italy international could be available for a cut-price sum of money, perhaps somewhere in the region of £15m.

While Balotelli has without doubt been a failure in a Liverpool shirt, he can at times be a real handful for opposition defences thanks to his immense strength and ability to shoot powerfully on goal from long-range.

He also has 33 caps for his country, and was a major force behind Italy reaching the 2012 Euro final.

Ajax are in the market for a new forward after their promising young Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik made the switch to Napoli, although it is believed that Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola has been in contact with several teams with regard to his client’s services.

Balotelli would be advised to take a look at how the likes of Milik, and before him Luis Suarez, flourished during their time at the Amsterdam Arena.

Whether Balotelli is willing to accept a significant cut in his wages, however, remains to be seen.
