Harry Kane taking corners for England during the Euros in
France was a source of frustration for supporters.
However, Tottenham fans will not be seeing their top scoring
striker continue what Roy Hodgson asked him to do in France, according to
manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“No. No. No,” he told The Sun, when asked if Golden Boot
winner Kane would be on corner taking duties in the new Premier League season.
“I don’t want to criticise but Harry is a top scorer so why
would you make him take the corner? You need to stay in the box, not outside.”
And Pochettino also revealed his surprise at the level of
criticism aimed at Kane following England’s Euro exit.
“Always when you are disappointed with the result you try to
find a reason why and the guilty. But Harry was in the same line up as the
other players. Some good, some bad.”
“In football you need to share responsibility.”
