Schweinsteiger On The Verge Of Bayern Come Back?

According to reports from Sport Bild, Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could complete a shock return to Bayern Munich before the close of the summer transfer window.

The retired German international made 500 appearances for the Bavarians, lifting eight Bundesliga titles and one Champions League title, before moving to Old Trafford last summer in a £6.5million transfer.

But injures saw the 31-year-old endure a tough debut season at United, managing just 13 starts in the Premier League.

Several sources have claimed Jose Mourinho is now looking to offload the World Cup winning veteran and has even made him train with United’s U21 squad.

Milan giants AC Milan and Inter are both reportedly targeting the combative midfielder for a summer transfer, but Sport Bild suggest a different next destination.

Indeed, the German publication claim Schweinsteiger could make a shock return to the Allianz Arena just one year after leaving.and Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is quoted saying;

“Should he (Schweinsteiger) speak in the future at some point about a desire to return then we will discuss it with him.”

And former team-mate, both for Bayern and the German National team, Phillip Lahm added;

“It is important to involve deserving players. A man like him was predestined to work with the club, he knows everything and everyone.”
