Benzema, 27, born in Lyon as 1 out of 10 kids from a family of Algerian origin, made his professional debut in 2005 at the age of 17 for Olympique Lyonnais to whichs footbll academy he joined at the age of 9, played first senior match for French national team in March 2007 and now plays his football in Real Madrid. Sounds like a successful career right?
Sadly this successful striker has had bumps in his footballing career. Last year it was a scandal involving an under-aged prostitute, of which he was cleared of, now it is a sex tape scandal.
Benzema has been placed under formal investigation in connection with a sex tape blackmail plot involving fellow french international.
The Real Madrid striker appeared before a judge yesterday in Versailles after being held in custody overnight.
His lawyer says he played "no part" in an alleged attempt to extort money from fellow French international, Mathieu Valbuena
According to French media, Mr Benzema mentioned the tape to the midfielder during a national team training session at Clairefontaine in early October.

According to AFP news agency, a source close to inquiry, said the 27-year-old star told investigators on Thursday he had approached Mr Valbuena about the tape on behalf of "a childhood friend".
The 27-year-old was freed on Thursday pending further investigations and he subsequently returned to Spain before taking part in an evening training session.
He then held talks with Real president Florentino Perez and the club released a statement in support of their player.
The statement read: "The Real Madrid C.F president, Florentino Perez, held a meeting with the player in which he gave him his full support and expressed his confidence that his actions were in good faith and that he is completely innocent"
"The club values and recognizes the professional commitment, the displays of camaraderie with his team-mates and the impeccable attitude he has shown as a core member of the first team squad for the more than six seasons that he has been a part of Real Madrid."
Benzema is currently struggling with an injury and needs to prove his fitness if he is to feature in Sunday's La Liga game at Sevilla.
France coach Didier Deschamps left both players out of his squad selected on Thursday for matches against Germany and England later in November.
