Super eagles, the national team of Nigeria yesterday dropped 7 places in FIFA world football rankings from 52nd to 59th and 12th in Africa.
The former African football power house still holds the African FIFA ranking record, after achieving the 5th spot in April, 1994.
Nigeria are behind Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde Islands, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Congo, Guinea, and Congo DR who make up the Top 10 sides in Africa.
The Nigerian super eagles have qualified for five (5) of the last six (6) FIFA World Cups, except for the 2006 FIFA World Cup hosted in Germany and reached the round of 16 three times. They made their first World cup appearance in the United States in 1994. They have also won the African Nations cup three (3) times, the most recent in 2013.
With new head coach Sunday Oliseh, one of the legends of Nigerian football, Nigerians hope he can steer the team back to winning ways.
