Manchester City eye Nigerian under 17 world cup best player again!

Two years ago, Manchester city signed the golden ball winner of the under 17 world cup. Two years down the line,  he has made his way into the teams first team and might get a lot of playing time seeing that his counterparts in that area are all injured. This persons name is Kelechi Ihenacho.

After a successful pre-season outing with the club, he was promoted to the forst team and has already opened his goal tab with the club.

Another player who is looking to replicate that feat is the golden ball winner of the just concluded under 17 world cup in Chile. He is no other person than Kelechi Nwakali.

Kelechi is the captain of the Golden Eaglets squad that successfully defended the FIFA U-17 World Cup beating Mali 2-0 on Sunday, November 8 in the final.

A product of the ASJ Academy in Owerri, Kelechi led the team from the midfield with his keen eye for passing and his impressive shooting.

He made the highest number of passes in the completion, providing three goals and three assists.

Nwakali trained with Manchester City in January but the club were put off by the £4 million price tag attached to him by his agents. They have, though, maintained an interest and will surely have been impressed by what they saw in Chile.

He cannot officially sign for a European club until he turns 18 next June, so he still has time to assess all of his options, with additional suitors now certain to appear.

His elder brother Chidiebere was signed by Manchester City along with Kelechi Iheanacho after their impressive outing for Golden Eaglets as they won the U-17 World Cup in 2013.

While Iheanacho has been promoted to the first team of City, Chidiebere is still with the developmental squad.

Kelechi is a huge admirer of Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure.

"I love watching him play because he loves to win," he told fifa.com.
"That's all he wants. You can see it in the way he plays, the way he runs and even in the way he walks on the pitch."
