It was the first ever premier league meeting between Southampton and Bournemouth at the St. Marys stadium yesterday. Southampton were favorites going into this match and started the match brightly as Davis turned in a good cross after 31 mins to give them the lead. Graziano Pelle continued his fine goal scoring form and doubled the lead with a brilliant header just 5 mins later. Bournemouth rallied and put up a much improved second half display and made Southampton defend deep but they couldn't find a way through and even after a Victor Wanyama red card, Southampton held on for a famous victory over their rivals.
