Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two of the greatest
footballers ever and there is a continuous debate among fans, players and
pundits as to who is actually better.
In an interview with goal.com, Bayern
Munich’s David Alaba gave his own opinion on Ronaldo and Messi.
“I like them both. Cristiano Ronaldo works very hard, day by
day, hour by hour, for his success and Messi? Messi with the ball is not human.”
Alaba was also asked about his life in Bayern as a youngster
and he revealed how Franck Ribery really helped him out during his younger
days:
At the age of 16, when I had my first traning session with
the first-team squad, I came into the cabin and there stood Ribery and he said:
“Come here, sit down. Take the locker beside me. And that’s my place still
today. He always tried to help me – whether on or off the pitch.”
He also had his say on Mario Gotze’s departure from Bayern
Munich:
"Mario is one of my closest friends in the team. In the
last few years he was bit unlucky with his injuries. But I think every time he
was on the pitch he always tried to give his best. His statistics show us that
he was an important player for us.”
David Alaba himself is considered to be one of the most
talented players in the world. However, the Austrian captain failed to live up
to expectations in the Euros. The pre-season will be very important for Alaba
and he gave his thoughts on playing in the US with Bayern Munich:
“I’m looking forward to our US tour, I like being in America.
New York, Chicago and Charlotte, we visit very cool cities. The people are
always very friendly there.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is the overwhelming favourite to win the
Ballon d’Or this year, having won both the Champions League and Euros. Many
players like Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and even Neymar have backed the
Portuguese superstar to win his fourth Ballon d’Or.
However, Lionel Messi also has his own admirers, with Luis
Suarez publicly claiming that the Argentine deserved the game’s top individual
prize. With eight Ballon d’Ors between the duo, Lionel Messi and Cristiano
Ronaldo have totally dominated the award in recent years and the streak is set
to continue with Ronaldo being the favourite to win it this time around.
