- Alex Tuanzebe identified
- Highly rated by academy coaches
- Player featured in and around first team picture by former manager
- Benched in 0 - 0 premier league draw with crystal palace under Luis Van Gaal
New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has identified Axel Tuanzebe as one of the club’s youngsters that he is keen to involve in the senior side next season.
Tuanzebe was included in and around the first team picture by Louis van Gaal last season, and was included on the bench in the Premier League for the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, but is yet to feature for the senior squad.
The 18-year-old is highly-rated by the United academy coaches and according to Sky Sports the defender has been earmarked by Mourinho as one of a couple of young talents he wants to play in the first team this year.
Furthermore, the report adds that Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela are set to be sold by Mourinho and the pair are training with the club’s under-21 squad rather than the senior first-team.
The Portuguese coach is keen to continue the tradition of giving youth a chance at the Red Devils and Tuanzebe, along with Timothy Fosu-Mensah, are set to get more opportunities in the new campaign.
Fosu-Mensah has already been a regular feature for United in the latter part of 2016 and Mourinho is eager for that development to continue.
Recognised as a stronger leader for the Under-21s, the new season could be Tuanzebe’s breakthrough year.
