- Swansea looking to bring Barca winger Cristain Tello
- Tello came through ranks at Barca's La Masia academy
- Tello's first team chaces at Barca limited
- Swansea have five wingers
- Tello interest also from Southampton and Fiorentina
If reports
are believed to be true, Swansea are looking to bring Barcelona winger
Cristian Tello at the Liberty Stadium who is also a subject of interest
from Southampton and Serie A giants Fiorentina.
The Viola clearly have
the upper hand for Tello as the Spaniard had spent 18months on loan with
Paulo Sousa’s team. However, the transfer market is a place where
equations can change any moment and Swansea fans have every right to be
excited.
Swansea do not have the best depth in
most areas of the pitch but they have a number of options in the wide
areas. As things stand right now, Swansea have five wingers in the squad
with Ayew, Routledge, Barrow, Montero and Dyer. Dyer’s future at the
club might come under consideration following his below par loan spell
with Leicester City last campaign but there are still four options at
Guidolin’s disposal.
A new winger might not be the biggest
necessity but when you get a player of Tello’s quality and potential,
you can’t say no. Tello is pretty clearly an upgrade on any Swansea
winger apart from Andre Ayew. Tello has come up through the ranks at
Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy hitting an impressive 20 goals in 86
games for the Catalan giants’ first team. Most of his playing time at
Camp Nou was only from the bench and considering that, his figures look
quite impressive.
Big things were expected from the La
Masia graduate but he is yet to fulfil those. A permanent move away from
Camp Nou will definitely bring the Spaniard’s career back on track and
considering the kind of attacking football Guidolin wants from his side,
Tello will be a big success at the Liberty.
Tello has bags of pace and can take
defenders with his dribbling abilities. The Barcelona forward likes to
cut in from the wide positions and make something happen. An impressive
trait of the 24-year-old is that he can shoot with either foot. As you
expect from a La Masia graduate, Tello has good ability on the ball
and can pick out passes as well.
Just aged 24, Tello will be a long-term project at the Liberty. £15m is the price Swansea are set to offer as per reports and it can prove to be a good deal in a long run.
