For a while back in June, it looked like Jamie Vardy was all
set to leave Leicester City and join Arsenal.
The Gunners reportedly had a £20 million transfer bid
accepted and, despite his key role in leading the Foxes to an unexpected
Premier League title, most people expected the England striker to agree terms
with the north London club.
Instead, Vardy opted to shun Arsenal's interest and re-sign
with Leicester. Now, with details finalised on his new four-year, £100,000
deal, the 29-year-old has spoken publicly on his decision and what it means
moving forward.
While reports at the time of Arsenal's interest suggested it
could put Vardy of his preparations for England's Euro 2016 campaign, the
player himself has now claimed he left it all up to his representatives.
"I had total faith in my agent and the Club to sort
things out," Vardy explained via Leicester's official website. "Which
left me free to completely focus on England and trying to help the team."
